Beauty on a Small Budget Update

Hi there! Since my last post there have been giveaways on Twitter and Instagram. Congrats to the three people who won a $100 gift card to The Home Depot, and big congrats to Tina Pelletier, who won the $250 gift card. There's another one being given away in this post so keep reading!
An update on my #CILPremiumBeauty project:
I picked out 'White on White' for the walls in CIL Premium's flat scrubbable finish, and a little designer secret... I used the same colour for the trim in a satin finish- this makes cutting in easier and any minor imperfections less noticeable.
The walls needed a tiny bit of patching. Once the room was ready to go, I enlisted the help of my family and turned it in to a fun project. We ordered pizza and got the walls done in record time. Everyone was excited to pitch in and help transform this new secret room for LL. He still has no clue what's going on with the space and I've decided that I'll likely move him in while he's sound asleep in a week or two when the room is completely finished.
For my next project with CIL Premium, I'll be painting an unfinished wood dresser to go between the beds. I've had some old marine cleats in the design office forever – they'd been suggested for a client some time back and forgotten in the hardware sample drawer. I figured now was the time to use them! They'll look great in LL's room.
I just need to decide between the two colours above for the dresser!

Option one- Chiseled Grey
Option two- Surreal Blue

I mentioned I'm giving away another $250 gift card to The Home Depot to get you started on your CIL Paint project.

To be eligible you must:

  11. Surreal Blue - it looks like the perfect, grey-blue moody ocean sky.

Currently trying to pick out the perfect colour while reading and researching all the ways to paint kitchen cabinets. I can't do glossy, builder basic maple anymore.

  12. Chiseled Grey for sure. I plan on using the White on White to paint over the horrid wood paneling in our dining room.

  13. I like chiseled gray too! I have painted random searches on the walls of my living ro and dining room - to no avail. Think I definitely should go to Home Depot and check out the cil colours so I can get going!!

  16. I seem to be alone on this but I'd go with the surreal blue - a little softer, brighter :)
Love the idea of a middle of the night sleep move! How fun and what a special memory he'll have of it later!
I just finished up painting my new baby girls birthday in CIL's Simple - a very (very!) soft grey white - created such a soothing space

  21. I like the calmness of surreal blue actually ^_^
So I bought Tulle White CIL for the downstairs hallway, but it was much too bright for my liking, and then I had another accident which is too much of a long story. Luckily a really good friend who's a supervisor at HDs paint department decided to work with me and we experimented by adding drops of CL until it was slightly warmer, similar to "classic Gray" by BM. Anyway it's a random customized shade at this point, but I love it! I still have to paint the trimming which should further bring out the grey of the walls. So excited!

Ps: I love your work and your blog/IG account ❤️🙏🏼.

  22. Chiseled grey! I am also working on restoring and painting an old piece of furniture.
I have recently moved and took my mothers old bedroom furniture (it is over 50 years old - is this considered vintage?! Haha) an am re painting it a beautiful white to match my dark grey bed!

  23. Chiseled grey for sure! Trying to motivate myself to start painting my kitchen cabinets white on white...maybe this weekend!

  24. Chiseled grey for the win! Haven't started my paint project yet, but we're doing an addition & renovation so the $250 would definitely help! Your Instagram is home inspo heaven ... Happy painting!

  25. It's hard to recommend a colour without seeing the dresser but based on the two shades I'd go with Surreal Blue. It has enough contrast with the walls but won't compete with bedding. My project of my white loft is going well- painting out all the wood wainscot panelling... Only one more coat!

  26. I just finished giving a fresh coat of paint to a few "vintage pieces" t make them new again!! Both your choices are beautiful so you can't really go wrong--but with a white on white space (my favourite combo btw) I personally go with the Surreal Blue as it is a subtle yet crisp compliment to the white!

  27. Chiseled Blue! Light and mod - perfect! Re did our living space in a teal and grey CIL colours, super cozy. Xoxo

  28. Hello! I am using Chelsea Fog on a 3 drawer dresser I bought from a thrift store. How's it going? Well, one more coat to do before I can attach some gorgeous hardware I bought from Anthro. Love Surreal Blue.

  29. I love the Chiseled Grey colour! I am about to add an accent wall I really love those colour swatches!

  30. Chiseled Grey! It's beautiful. Grey is my favourite color for walls. Well, besides white. On my quest for an all white (walls) home I'm looking for the perfect white to paint my bedroom.

  31. Chiseled Grey would be gorgeous on a dresser! I love that CIL has a scrubbable flat paint. I'm painting my main living area and am super excited to try it! Thanks for the chance to win :)

  32. I love grey! I re-painted my high kitchen cabinets in grey with the bases back! Love, love, love it! I secretly want to paint everything grey, white and black but fear my husband may freak! Colour wise, as it's a statement piece of furniture I would go with the darker option. It needs to pop not fade so chiseled grey wins for me.

  33. I like the chiseled grey. I am painting our guest room a flat white. Looking forward to seeing the finished product :)

  34. I love surreal blue :) I'm leaning toward refreshing an old coffee table Tulle White. Think it will nicely pull the rest of the room together!

  35. Surreal Blue! I painted a wall used the chiseled grey and am now using various paint colours to "white" wash some of the gallery pieces going up on the wall. It's looking great, I copied your horse head!

  36. Surreal Blue! I'm working on our main bath. White and bright all the way!

  38. Chiseled Grey! But truthfully, either would look great. We moved into our house two years ago and have only painted the master so far. A Home Depot gift card would be just the kick we need to finish painting! Love your blog Erica. xo
