A lovely spot for lunch, or a game (bored game as we call it) to pass the time on a rainy day.
The cork flooring was salvaged from a minor flood in my home. The soffits/fascia are also made from old cedar fence boards. I love repurposing materials that would otherwise be garbage.
Floor cushions provide extra seating. Birch branches draw the eye up to a wooden deer head.
A small electric fireplace provides warmth on cooler days.
I love using accessories to give the appearance that a fireplace is real. Here an owl holds birch kindling.
This loft space provides sleeping accommodations for two and will soon receive a library ladder and safety rails made of a trestle inspired garden trellis. So, who wants to come and visit?? xo

ReplyDeleteHad my first visit in the outdoor room with my sister in law and sweet new baby niece. It was quiet and lovely... away from the 7 little boys inside the main house. Just thought that I'd share. :) xoxo e

ReplyDeleteLove this room so much I linked it to my blog today! Just Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Suzanne (beachhouse) and Desiree (chic coastal living) and to all the comments above from before!
ReplyDeleteThere is such a bank of snow in front of the door I can't even get in there now. Looking forward to spring!
I absolutely LOVE this idea. Your design is spot on! I have a little "playhouse" just like it in my back yard. Now I just have to convince my family to find another home for all their sports equipment--momma's movin' in!
ReplyDeleteErica ive been a follower , i absolutely adore your design inspirations , breath taking !!!!!! I would love to know what kinda beds those are , i know they are ikea ones, but are they guest beds or single beds .... Great job :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Deann, thanks for the kind words and following right along with me. The beds are two ikea twin boxsprings (sultan aram in grey), with ikea square oak legs and two twin mattresses (I think I went with the Sultan Hamnvik). Hope this helps. :)
ReplyDeletePS- I chose the sultan aram boxspring in grey because the only other colour was white. I knew they'd be covered in a washable fabric, so this way, if I ever choose to do the room in a different colour palate I'll have the flexibility to do so with my choice of a white or grey base. :)
ReplyDeletei love love love your style Erica!
ReplyDeleteLindsay
Thanks Lindsay! The feelings are mutual. :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am smitten with this space. The owl, the mirror, the pillows, the loft. It's calling my name. Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI know I am late to this party, but just discovered your blog and I love. Could you please share the brand and style number of your electric fireplace? I have been in the market for months and yours is just what I have been looking for. Thx much!
ReplyDeleteI would also love to know where the fire place is from.
ReplyDeleteThis room is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing with us.
Hi babychimom and Anna. Sorry I'm just seeing this now. The fireplace was a Rona purchase. I know that they have similar styles at Canadian Tire too. Hope this helps. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use as a base for the twin mattress/sofa? Thanks! Love your loft, it's so perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks Unknown.
ReplyDeleteThe bases are ikea grey boxsprings. They look upholstered. I put square oak legs (that are sold at ikea too) on the base of the box springs and then covered them with twin bedskirts... a king cut in half will work as well. :)
