Humpday Holla! + DIY of sorts

Hey. We're sick as dogs with a cold that just won't let up. At least the weather has been amazing with lots of sun and warm temps.
I've long been a fan of altering things to suit/individualizing things... ie spraying a lamp the desired colour, changing out knobs on a dresser etc...
My side doorway light remained a hanging bulb for years because I couldn't seem to find a fixture I liked enough to commit to. It also may be neglect- you know, shoe maker's daughter has no shoes... designer has no light.
Anyways, I finally found one I loved (available here)... but, if it was only gold.
So I sprayed it! (here's the finished image and steps below)
I came across mine at Homesense but didn't love the bronze finish.
Here's how I golded it up and made it fab.
Pretty straightforward, I taped off the cord and sprayed the rest of the fixture gold.
A trick I always use to paint the top of the installation screws is to stick them in styrofoam and spray. FYI the spray paint will cause the foam to shrink... just so you know.
I went with a tubular bulb because this is what really makes the fixture and gives it some personality.
Et voila... I kinda have a crush on this little guy. Get yours here.
Happy Wednesday lovers. xo

I would never have thought of painting it gold it totally transforms the light. I am definitely going to try this. It just makes the light so exspensive and chic looking

Wow! I bought (then returned) that exact fixture because I wasn't crazy about the bronze when I got it home. WISH I would have thought of golding it up!
